Santa Fe 2928 Steam Engine
This is an actual photo of the Santa Fe 2928 locomotive with the above lamp. The locomotive was made by Baldwin Locomotive works in 1944 for Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe, and used primarily for passenger service.
It is a Class 2900 4-8-4 steam locomotive. Because of the war, ordinary metals were used in the construction making this the heaviest Northern type locomotive ever made.
This is a beautiful locomotive and we wish we could have seen it in person. But unfortunately it was scrapped. Turns out the model railroading people have made a brass working model of this exact engine. Wow.
