Gilbert "Regulator #10"
Oak, height 53”, ca. 1890.
This is an early pre-1900 style not documented in Tran Du Ly reference books, reference Ehrhard’s Clock Book (Blue) page 24.
Lots of case detail on this clock, hard to describe in words but it really does come together beautifully. There are two burled mahogany panels, one on the inside of case, the other at the bottom of the case.
The 9 1/2” dial is painted paper and has a scripted “Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co., Winsted, Conn.” signature. The bezel, weight, and beat scale are all nickel plated, and the pendulum bob is pain brass. The pendulum rod is made of cherry wood.
The prior owner claimed everything is original, without repair. I agree.
