Read MoreThis is known as a "character slot". A life size hand carved wood figure with an antique slot machine as it's body. The first character slots were made by Frank Polk in the 1950's. Internet sources say he made 92 pieces, each one a different cowboy or bandit or casino girl figure. Very collectible. Later Dick Delong made a variety of character slots and this is one of his. Mills High Top slot machine. Separate wood head, arm and leg pieces, all screwed to the machine. Top of legs stamped "R. S. Delong hand made", only visible when the legs are detached. Leather holster with an antique toy pistol. Antique "Hopkins & Allen Arms" shotgun held in the sherriff's hand.
Oak cabinet made by Regina for their 18" music boxes. Note that the stand is completely original, but the color finish does not match our music box. We would love to have a matching case, but we are very happy to have one as they are very hard to find. Also note that we have a nice assortment of old music disks.
Nude girl holding an ashtray high above her head. Painted statue has great patina and detailing, including eye lashes and red painted toe nails. Smoked glass bowl. Unsure if the statue went with the top as there are multiple mounting holes. But this is eye catching in person. Guessing this dates to the 1920's. Height 30.5".
Dorfmann Bros. Wood Painted Barometer
Advertising barometer made for "Ellis Berry, Royal Oak, Mich." circa 1925. Tan lettering on red.
Beautiful 1882 Victorian art glass syrup pitcher made by the Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company. Hand blown pink glass in GUTTATE pattern, hand applied colorless handle. Internet references suggest the hinged metal top will have a patent date "Mar. 28 '82" but I have not looked for it. The putty is extremely old so I believe everything is original.
World map 1588. 12-3/4 x 14-3/8 inches. This map was engraved in woodcut and published in Basel by Sebastian Petri. After 1588, this map was only re-published in posthumous German editions of Sebastian Munster's Cosmographia issued in 1592, 1598, 1614, and 1628, and is thus rare. "Die erst General Tafel / die Beschreibung und den Circkel des gantzen Erdtrichs und Meers innhaltende.". Early depiction of the world devotes half the area to the New World, with German title printed above the border, and Latin nomenclature. Clearly based on the 1564 copperplate map Typus Orbis Terrarum by Ortelius, it shows the fabled Northwest Passage above the North American continent, believed to link the north Atlantic and the north Pacific Oceans. At the bottom a huge land mass intended to encompass Antarctica is labeled Terra Australis Nondum Cognita (Southern Land Not Yet Known). Sebastian Munster (January 20, 1488 - May 26 1552), was a German cartographer, cosmographer, and a Hebrew scholar. Heinrich Petri (1508 - 1579) and his son Sebastian Henric Petri (1545 – 1627) were printers based in Basel, Switzerland.
Manufactured by J & E Stevens and Company, circa 1897. Cast iron base stamped "Always Did 'Spise A Mule" on top. Place a coin under the black trainer boy, press the button near the mule's rear leg, and the mule kicks up and swings around, and the boy falls backwards. Original paint but lacking the bank box on bottom.
Timer starts and stops by sliding a bar left and right near top. Second and minute hands, can be reset using key on back. Key wound on back. Reference hand moved using knob on front. Heavy metal case painted black. Dial is signed "W. G. Pye & Co, Cambridge Eng, Made in England". Fun to watch run. Previous owner thought it was a chess clock. That would be cool but I don't think that is what it was used for.
Slot machine made by Watling circa 1935. And this is not a replica. High quality and reliable, and highly valued by collectors. Yellow case with many gold coins across the top and front. Twin jackpot feature, which means a jackpot winner will empty only one of the two visible windows. Stamped "ROL 75900" on top right of the case. Blue and white "Blue Seal, Good in 1889 Better Today" labels on left and right. Arm stamped "Watling Mfg. Co. Chicago Ill". Heavy back door with a raised Watling logo logo. Original Watling lock, coin box and keys. The family that sold it said that it was fully restored some years back. Plays great. Twangy tinny sound at the end is supposedly a trademark of these Watling machines.
